For Air Passengers: Information about insolvency Air Berlin

As of 28 October 2017, the air carrier Air Berlin PLC & Co Luftverkehrs KG will stop its flight operations. Thus, as of this date, no more flights will be carried out under IATA Code AB.

The opening of the insolvency proceedings in respect of the assets of Air Berlin PLC & Co Luftverkehrs KG took place on 1 November 2017. For flights booked before 15 August 2017, insolvency creditors must file their claims by 1 February 2018 in writing by specifying reason and amount of the claim to the following address:

Furthermore, we kindly point out that, in the current exceptional circumstances, the following air carriers, Deutsche Lufthansa, Eurowings, SWISS and Austrian Airlines offer return flights for stranded passengers at special conditions for a limited period of time.

Passengers concerned by an Air Berlin return flight cancelled between 28 October and 15 November 2017 will receive a retroactive reimbursement amounting to 50 % of the gross price of the return flights booked alternatively with one of these air carriers; excepted from this are German domestic flights. After their return flight, the passengers must send their claim for reimbursement by 15 December 2017 to the respective air carrier by submitting the ticket used and the confirmation for the cancellation of the Air Berlin booking for the period between 28 October and 15 November 2017.
