Information on the current regulations applying for the entry into the U. S.-United States

Date 2021.12.16

Since 8 November 2011, the current entry ban for the United States (U. S.-United States) has been lifted for people from many parts of the world such as the Schengen Area and the United Kingdom. Hereinafter the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt provides information on the current regulations applying for the entry into the U. S.-United States.

Prerequisition for the entry into the U. S.-United States is a complete vaccination with a vaccine approved by the U. S.-United States Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) or the World Health Organization (WHO). This also applies to persons having recovered from an infection with the Corona virus; these persons, too, may only enter the U. S.-United States having the complete vaccinations.

The vaccines of the following manufacturers are recognized: BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Covishield, BIBP/Sinopharm, Sinovac, Johnson & Johnson. A combination of these preparations, a so-called cross-vaccination, is also permitted. Either a digital vaccination certificate or the official evidence in paper form is accepted.

Furthermore, all travellers need to have a negative Covid-19 test (PCR,or antigen test), not more than three days old on departure, or a proof that they have recovered combined with a fit-to-fly-certificate.
Children up to two years as well as children and adults under 18 years are excepted.

Before entry, it is required to provide your contact data as well as any information on the journey electronically and to fill in a self-declaration on the vaccination status and the test status, see https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/pdf/combined-passenger-attestation-p.pdf .

Moreover, it is recommended that travellers check their ESTA status in good time before starting to travel.

Air carriers are obliged to check whether passengers have the travel documents required for the entry into their destination country. If this is not the case, the consequence will be that the air carrier will deny boarding due to insufficient travel documents.

For further information on entry and stay in the U. S.-United States, please see the websites of the U. S.-United States State Department and of the Center of Disease Control (CDC):

Please also see the relevant information provided by your tour operator and/or your air carrier.
