We kindly answer your specific questions concerning the procedure how to apply for a licence.
Before contacting us, please familiarize yourself with the legal regulations and the information material made available by us:
Should you do not find any answer to your questions, please have a look at our FAQ page where we put together frequently asked questions and their answers.
Please pay attention to the fact that we are not able to perform a careers advice or to give you detailed information regarding your personal prospects with reference to the issue or extension of a licence for certifying staff.
We made efforts to let you have the most important information you should know before applying for a licence in our information leaflets as a guideline:
Information leaflet Part-66 (only in German available)
Information leaflet LuftPersV (Personnel Licensing Order), (only in German available)
Should you have any questions to which extent your personally acquired qualifications (e.g. job training) can be approved for the issue of a licence for certifying staff (so-called credit points), please read carefully the information how to approve qualifications in order to issue a licence, in particular our credit report with detailed information. If you are a former member of the Bundeswehr (German armed forces), you will also find information about a potential approval of these years in service in the agreement on the approval of practical activities with the Bundeswehr.
Should you have no information as to the granting of credits for your qualification (e.g. job training or studies), please pay attention to the fact that we can only give you information about this subject, if specific proofs and a detailed alignment of teaching contents (provably taught and checked within the scope of the acquisition of the qualification) is available together with the requirements of Appendix I to Part-66. For further information please see Section B, Subpart E (examination credits) of Part-66.
Please note that communication with the LBA via email or fax is unencrypted. For reasons of data protection law, we therefore recommend that you use the post for inquiries that contain personal data (Address: Luftfahrt-Bundesamt, Unit T22 Technical Personal, D-38144 Braunschweig, Germany).
